PRESIDENT'S REPORT FEBRUARY 21

Thanks everyone for making last Thursday such a success.  Our Art Show sponsor would have been delighted with the turn out and there was a real buzz despite the rigours of the Field Days BBQ.

It looks like we will clear around $6,000 for the three days.  It seemed at times as though we were working in a sauna but the rewards were there.  Certainly can't beat our value for money hamburger and steak sandwiches.  Thanks to all the cooks, preparers, servers and spruikers - the fellowship was a highlight as it often is in these pressure cooker situations.

Don't forget Thursday night with our special guest Eddie de Pina from East Timor.  The footy club have put together a terrific array of finger food (not sure if it's compatible with my diet?) but looks very tasty.  We've got quite a few guests coming to hear Eddie and it will be great for us to hear how he sees the water project impacting on the people around the Bahkita Centre.  Some may have heard Eddie with Yve Bailey on ABC 1620 this morning.  The cost of the food will be $18 per head as usual.

Saturday March 2 is the date for 'Chicken 'n Salad' at Heardy's place starting 4.00 pm.  Numbers attending need to be known so that orders can be made and waste avoided.  There will be a sign-up sheet at the meeting on Thursday.

District 9520 is holding their conference in Warrnambool in March 2014.  They have asked the Group 5 clubs to assist with the organisation of a 'social' event on Friday and a BBQ on Sunday.  AG Judy Ross is seeking two Rotarians from each club to work coordinating this.  Please let me know if you'd like to be involved.

The St Pat's Day Monster Bowls event is gathering pace with more sponsors coming on board.  You'd remember the generous donation by the folk from Guinness.  Now we have Stone's Green Beer offering tastings, hamper to raffle and give-aways.  If you'd like to make up a team - please see Everard.  There will be Rotary teams as well as mixed, beginner or advanced teams so everyone will be catered for.  All funds from the day will go to Rotary House Warrnambool Inc.

See you on Thursday.
