Another Great Event

It might have taken 30 years, but pay day has come in a big way for Warrnambool golfer Steve Timms.
Clinton Baulch sales manager Brad Caine and hole-in-one winner Steve Timms of Warrnambool, with his brand new Kia Picanto.

The sweet swing of a pitching wedge was enough to win Mr Timms first prize in the Rotary Club of Warrnambool East hole-in-one competition.

That prize was a new $15,000 Kia Picanto, with much of the cost of the car covered by the Clinton Baulch Motor Group.

Mr Timms, who plays off a handicap of 12, has aced the hole twice in the past month and on Australia Day got to within one metre and 78 centimetres. This was the closest of all the 54 finalists, which were made up those who had landed holes-in-one and closest to the pins each day since the competition began on Boxing Day.
“I hit a couple of good ones so I thought one might be around the mark,” Mr Timms said.

In other categories, Harry Purcell won the juniors, Warrnambool Bus Lines the corporate and Sue Shimmin the women’s division.
