It had been a quiet week, with only the coffee this morning at the RSL worthy on mention.

Did you know?
Continuing the Rotary Fellowships theme for June, it is worth noting that through the activities of Rotarian Noel Kenna, and others over the years, RCWE has had quite a bit of contact with the Rotary Fellowship of Golfers.

The Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians held its first annual tournament at Peninsula Golf Course (Mornington) in 1979, while the 45th tournament was at Tura Beach Country Club (Merimbula) in March this year. The 46th event will be in Busselton, WA, from 14-19 April 2024. In March 2007, the tournament was conducted jointly by the Golf Clubs of Warrnambool and Port Fairy.

Holding its first competition in 1964 at St Andrew’s, Scotland, the International Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians also conducts annual tournaments, with the 2023 one in Rome, Italy, between 2 and 7 July.

There are also regional groups and tournaments, e.g., the 67th Regional tournament with be held at St Andrew’s, Scotland, next week, while USA & Canada will hold their 33rd competition at Niagara Falls, Canada, in September 2023.

The golfing fellowships are very active and are a great way to meet fellow Rotarians who are golfers and to get to play courses which may not otherwise be available.

If you are a golfer with an interest in golf, speak to Noel about the opportunities he has enjoyed in Australia and across the world through attending quite a few of these competitions.
